IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL NVLP ADVANCED YOUTH TRAINERS
WHAT: NVLP Youth Crew Meeting
WHEN: Thurs, September 8, 2011 ♥ 5 to 6:15 PM
WHERE: Paulo Freire Freedom School 300 E. University Blvd. (just west of 4 th Ave.)
WHO: All certified Advanced Youth Nonviolence Trainers and other youth who want to build positive peace in our schools, families, & neighborhoods!
At the NVLP General Meeting, Youth Trainers Ja’Net Bufford, Liz Horner, and Elisa Ventura met with Lori LeChien. Together, they proposed holding regular Youth Crew meetings on the 2 nd & 4 th Thursday of the month. The first meeting is scheduled for this Thursday, September 8 th , 5:00 to 6:15 PM at Paulo Freire Freedom School (that’s where Miss Lori teaches part-time). When you arrive at the school, look for the sign hanging above the door. Go down the steps, and enter the first room of couches. Wait there on those couches, and Miss Lori will be there at 5.
We hope to have all the youth trainers from last year and the newly certified group in attendance at this meeting!! Lori will facilitate the first few meetings; however, the goal is that, as meetings go on, Youth Crew members will facilitate the meetings.
In this space, the three main focuses will be:
1. To use our own creative talents to recruit more youth in NVLP;
2. To discuss and create opportunities to teach and implement Kingian Nonviolence in elementary, middle, and high schools, community centers and religious institutions;
3. To strengthen our own skills in Kingian Nonviolence with in depth-discussions, additional readings, and other cool, always fun and interesting things!
*Also, the content of the meetings is subject to change depending on what Youth Crew members bring to the table.
We’re going to have a good time! Miss Lori will try to have snacks, and she will always have her trusted guitar!
PLEASE call or email to let us know whether you are coming and tell us if you need a ride to the meeting :
